Online Safety
Within school, we prioritise educating the children to keep them safe online and help them navigate the complex digital world.
It is also essential for parents and carers to help guide their children in navigating the online space safely. As technology evolves, so do the risks, making it crucial for families to establish open communication and set clear boundaries.
-
Talk Regularly: Encourage open conversations about your child's online experiences. Ask them about the websites they visit, the apps they use, and the people they interact with online.
-
Set Privacy Settings: Help your child adjust privacy settings on social media and other platforms to protect their personal information. Make sure they understand the importance of keeping certain details private.
-
Be Informed: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in online gaming, social media, and apps. This will allow you to guide your child effectively and identify potential risks.
-
Monitor Online Activity: Use parental control software or set up rules for internet use at home, including how much time can be spent online and what content is appropriate.
-
Lead by Example: Show your child how to practice good online habits, such as respectful communication, responsible sharing, and recognizing harmful content.
Pupils will learn about this important aspect as part of their Personal Development and ICT lessons at Key Stage Three (Years 7-9). Please discuss this with your child and encourage them to utilise the strategies explored in these lessons.
By working together, you can ensure that your child enjoys a safe and positive online experience.
