Harrytown Catholic High School

"I have come that they have life, and have it to the full". John 10:10

As part of the department for education reforms to the national curriculum announced for implementation from September 2014, the current system of ‘levels’ used to report children’s attainment and progress will be removed and will not be replaced. By removing levels they sought to allow teachers greater flexibility in the way that they plan and assess pupils’ learning.

The school is involved with the majority of other schools in the Local Authority in designing and putting in place a system that will replace the system which was made non statutory under the changes outlined above.

In the intervening period we plan to continue to use the levels as before.

Parents will receive three key pieces of information throughout each academic year. There will be two Academic Reviews and one full written report (Annual Report to Parents). There will also be a parents meeting where parents can book appointments with the class teachers of their child.

The Academic Review presents a snapshot of key pieces of information in terms of progress, achievement, attendance and punctuality, attitude to learning and current working grade. The Annual Report to Parents presents all of this information but includes a written statement about each subject studied, a pastoral comment and a series of suggested ways forward designed to help the pupil make the progress necessary in the key identified areas. The format for the reports is similar so as to easily allow for easy comparison between data capture points, this should help focus all ours efforts (parents, teachers and pupils) on working together to make the maximum amount of progress possible.

A new website for our school is currently under

construction and will be available in the next few weeks.
